It’s easy to describe a person’s personality. They are smart, outgoing, active, and kind. These are just a few qualities that make up a person’s being.
Why then is it so hard for a company to define its personality? I have found that a business’s way of thinking gets in the way. I hear we have lots of different people working here and I could generalize and describe them as one. They are all unique and they do not fit together. Each functional area operates differently and thus needs a unique mindset to get things done.
HOGWASH!
Businesses need to decide how they want to be perceived.
- How they want to be described to others?
- What are their strengths?
- How are they unique?
- What makes them successful?
- Why are they in business in the first place?
These are a few questions that need to be addressed.
Write up these answers and then circulate the findings to your team. Have them provide feedback and then finalize your corporate personality.
By sharing with your team who you are, you make it easier for the team to understand the company’s personality when they deal with each other and behave accordingly with your customers as well.
The personality of success is created through consistent values and attributes.
