Zoom Fatigue
So many of us have replaced office meetings with Zoom calls. Face-to-face get-togethers are now done on Zoom. Sales calls are via you guessed it, Zoom. Almost all encounters involve Zoom or some similar technology.
Is it a wonder people are going through Zoom fatigue after over a year?
Fatigue is a difficult feeling to deal with as it is an emotional characteristic. When you are fatigued, you feel worn out and exhausted. Combine that sense with the fact that your every move, expression, verbally, and visually are seen on Zoom.
Now fatigue really has become a part of your persona.
What do you do?
I start with making sure all meetings have at least a 15 minute buffer between the end of one meeting and the beginning of another one. This gives me time to separate one situation from the next. During this time, I perform some sort of physical activity to recharge my batteries. It could involve walking speed walking outside for 10 minutes or going up and down stairs for 5 minutes. Deep breathing with your eyes closed help to create a reset as well. One final idea I utilize often is I interact with our dog which changes my mood completely. She doesn’t care about how the previous meeting went and adores attention always.
These ideas help get you through a long day in a more invigorated fashion.
When the days turn into weeks, I suggest you determine how you can have several long weekends where you plan activities to recharge. Repotting plants or creating multiple new plants from existing plants helps me feel good in that I am helping plants grow which separates me from my tiredness and helps me recharge. A short weekend away can do the same trick for others or even long drives can help alter your mindset.
The point is change your routine to get back to where you can perform at your best.
After all doing the same over and over again is tiring.
