I was recently on a business trip to Phoenix, Arizona when I encountered a strange occurrence. I saw a blinking caution light that had an arrow attached to it. It had writing on the light that gave a person the option of turning at their sole discretion as long as they yielded.

I wonder how many of you have waited for the turn signal to turn from red to green even though no traffic was forthcoming?

I know I waste a great deal of time waiting at a red turn signal no matter the circumstances.

Now Arizona is putting the power back in my hands to determine when it is safe to turn.

I felt liberated that someone had enough confidence in me to decide when I could turn.

I began to think what it would be like if more situations gave power back to the individual and if others stopped telling us what we should do.

Freedom is liberating and provides us with confidence in ourselves.
