One of the biggest sins is not making decisions. If you let things go, the decision will be made for you. When you are in a big company, volume covers a lot of sins. Michael Feuer Co-Founder of OfficeMax said “try to break down every decision into little pieces. Then answer the smaller questions and build back up to the overall bigger decisions. By answering the smaller questions first, you gain confidence in your decision making. You also gain momentum from just making decisions.” I have found when I feel overwhelmed with things to do or I am not sure what to do, I go back to the beginning. I start slowly and with smaller steps. By putting one foot in front of the other or making one decision after the other, I begin to move forward. I am no longer stuck. My energy begins to return as I am heading in the right direction… forward. The next step is becoming motivated to keep going. Another benefit of bite sized decisions is your team will see you are taking action and that movement will become motivational to them as well.
Thinking small can lead to big decisions, and even bigger progress and success.
