The discipline of Marketing has evolved to include Informational Technology (IT). Marketing used to push out information and the consumer would react in this vacuum. Now IT comes along with information as their main resource. Marketing needs more information about the customer including their needs, desires and goals. During the relationship building stage IT shares some of their customer knowledge with marketing which results in Marketing communicating in a more in-depth fashion across more platforms. Throughout these communication vehicles Marketing is gaining a greater understanding of their customer which ultimately makes the customer receive what they want and the way they want it. Over time Marketing and IT merge their efforts together and work as one. The business gains from the depth of communication provided by IT. The marriage of Marketing and IT create a world where there are no losers. The future looks bright for all!
