The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg is a great book. The key to changing habits lies in the brain. Changing your habits the right way can lead to a positive outcome. I have found that not having a daily treat effects my thinking. Thus, I have set aside a certain time every day to indulge in some dessert as part of my daily routine. This habitual behavior has gotten me through difficult meetings, tough deadlines and spurred creative thinking. If it has been an especially trying day with multiple complications, I go for two desserts. After all, flexibility is a critical attribute to a marketing person’s success.
Enjoy the book, and just as importantly, make sure indulgence becomes a habit.
