The world has changed and with it has come the growth of entrepreneurship. People are thinking differently. They are looking for ways to come up with new ideas and opportunities to build a business. Yesterday, the only type of person who would start a company would be someone who was wealthy or had a unique product or service. Most people did not fit that mold thus the quality of people being entrepreneurs was limited. It no longer takes a special person with a revolutionary idea to be an entrepreneur.
Fast forward to today. Ideas are plentiful and people willing to implement their ideas have multiplied. Money is no longer the barrier to trying. The largest change has come in people’s mindset. Not having a career in the corporate world is not as essential today.
Failure is no longer an end for your business career. In fact, it may be a new beginning. Trying is the most important ingredient in determining if you can succeed as an entrepreneur.
As in your corporate career, planning is key. Make sure you write down what you are going to do. How you are going to do it differently and who is your customer? Keep someone around who can keep you focused and be a sounding board as your project evolves.
Remember the entrepreneur who succeeds has their mind focused on the opportunity.
