The world is getting back to the “new normal”. What does that mean for you as the leader of an organization?
As the leader, your team needs to understand how you have transformed within the marketplace, how that transformation impacts their job, and what they need to do differently now versus previously. The understanding for the team increases the likelihood they will be successful in their job which ultimately makes your job run more smoothly.
Now, let’s look outside the organization and see how the marketplace views your company and yourself as well. Has anything changed for your customers?
I am guessing the answer to that question is a yes!
Next, let’s have a look at your potential customers. Have they evolved in any way?
This answer is likely affirmative as well.
Are both groups desiring the same services from you as previously?
This answer is a resounding NO!
Now, that you have diagnosed the situation. The question becomes what do you need to do to stay in a leadership position?
You must demonstrate to them that you are no longer just using methods from the pre-Covid era. You have evolved. I believe you need to connect even more with your marketplace than ever before and on a more emotional level.
You might say they know me and what I am all about. Well guess what? That was then and this is now. The information they have is knowledge based. It is straight from your head. What they need now is from your heart and involving emotion.
So, if this is true, what do I need to do?
Your potential customers need to reconnect with you. They need to see a new person.
Start with a communication strategy that involves how you have evolved as a leader during this “Covid time”.
What initiatives have you undertaken to better stay connected with your team? Demonstrate with examples of before and after stories integrating your initiatives. Be specific as I am guessing everyone you are dealing with has had similar problems. The process is not as important as the experience.
Next, discuss a couple of case histories with current customers and new customers regarding new creative ways you have discovered opportunities for them.
Finally, I suggest using a video interview (the most powerful vehicle in today’s marketplace for communication) to wrap it all up for your internal team and your external customer base (both current and potential).
You are now in a position of leading from the front of the pack. You have shared with everyone who you come into contact with, how you have evolved, and more importantly, why they should do business with you. Connecting with them emotionally leads to a transformation in your relationship with them.
A new world… A new perception of you…
Leads to …. A better business today for your team + your customers + yourself💪
