“Follow Me I’m the Pied Piper” was a popular song written in 1966 by Crispian St. Peters.
It’s also a great verse of how to lead. Much of what we read is negative. Even more of what we hear is not positive. Then, we have interactions that are not good. It’s tough to find good in today’s world.
I have found a couple of ways to head down the right path. First, find 6-8 occurrences daily that are positive. Anything counts. Sometimes we must start small. From someone smiling at you when they take your beverage order in the morning, to a bus driver greeting you when you board the bus, to a driver who lets you cut in front of them as you get on the highway. Document these events in a journal so you will have first hand proof that good has happened to you! Then, at the end of the day review the positive happenings and feel that today was a positive day. This approach will help you build a positive mindset for tomorrow.
Another way to ensure you do not slip on the path to positive thinking is to find someone who is a friend, associate, or your partner to help monitor your thoughts and make sure you notice good and minimize the negatives. They can help you reframe negatives as positives and remind you of the good things you have had happen to you.
Everyone enjoys being around a positive person. If you look and sound positive, people will trust you, and help you get to where you want to go. After all, following the pied piper is easier, if the music makes you feel good!
