Today is National Ice Cream Day! Wow, one of my absolute favorite days of the year. I love Ice Cream. ❤️
Over time, I’ve realized that eating Ice Cream is more science than art. Let me share a few things I’ve learned from my deep and delicious experiences:
First learning: Timing is everything. If you eat too slowly, you risk getting full and missing out on the full Ice Cream experience and all the creative combos I dream up.
Second learning: Always go with a dish, never a cone. With a dish, you can push the Ice Cream down and fit more in. Cones are risky as they break, they leak, and frankly, they limit the volume as you can only push so hard.
Third learning: Stay hydrated. Summer is hot, and hydration is crucial. Liquids are your friend.
Final rule: Start with solids and move to liquids. You stay hydrated, get variety, and always—always—end with mint. It helps with digestion (at least that’s what I tell myself). 😁
PS: Ice Cream is my reward system. On this special day, I think about the people and businesses I’ve helped and enjoy a treat for each success. If I’ve made a big impact, well… the celebration may continue for another day. Or two. 😉 You never want to leave someone out and let’s be honest, helping others comes with benefits!
Enough about the science and structure. Let’s talk treats.
Here’s how my celebration usually goes:
- Start with coffee Ice Cream + hot fudge. Basic? Maybe. But a strong opener.
- Then onto peach Ice Cream—a true summer flavor.
- I usually get thirsty about now, so it’s root beer float time (always with vanilla bean Ice Cream, which adds a little punch).
- Back to solids: hot fudge brownie sundae with vanilla Ice Cream. Because I adore chocolate.
- Then a hot fudge milkshake with cappuccino yogurt and skim milk. (See? I am always on the lookout for places to cut calories.) 😇
- And finally… the grand finale: mint chocolate chip Ice Cream with a dollop of hot fudge. Perfection.

Just a few of the things in my personal Ice Cream Celebration of Success. I go deeper depending on how many people I’ve helped. But these six treats are a great start.
You work hard. Treat yourself and your team today. You’ve earned it.
Feel free to reply and share your own favorites. I’m always up for new ideas!
Enjoy July 20th and Happy National Ice Cream Day!
